...it seems allardyce is desperate for his captain to nick that goal that'll get him back into starting line up.

Nothing has changed at manager level. Sam has been able to ride in on the back of what has gone on around him, and he is hoping Nolan will be able to do that too...

3 penalty offences, 2 hand balls and a blatant foul, from the same corner and we were given none of them.

Says it all

has it been mentioned about the Ref that spotted Hart kicking it twice to stop QPR goal? He was in the other fucking half with 2 players in front, all he could see was the keepers signal surely?

Game was crying out for a player like Zarate yesterday somebody who can pick a lock

After watching Goals on Sunday,it was clear there were two handballs by Villa just before Song was fouled. So the ref had three opportunities to give a penalty in the same incident. Looked like he bottled it because time was almost up.

His eyesight isn't the best.
Thought from about 60yds away that Baker had injured himself fouling COLE from behind for what should have been another pen.
Would be interested exactly what it was that meant he decided that incident ended as a Villa free kick. Nonsense

Song's was an obvious routine 100% pen with no question marks at all. Ref just lost his bottle towards the end

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread 0-0FT
how did the ref miss that foul on Song for the penalty in the last minute. Looked it at the time from my seat and MOTD confirmed it

I thought we played alright, just one of those days when the chances and half chances went straight at the keeper or didn't fall our way.

A world away from home draws in previous seasons.

"IMO we played well for the majority but it was one of those days where the ball just wouldn't go in.Villa defended extremely well and deserve credit for that."

Agreed. Just one of those days for us. Was no fluke for Villa either. Watched their win at Anfield earlier in the season and it was much the same as yesterday. Congested the midfield area, threw bodies in the way of everything and have a very good keeper. Difference was there they took one of their two chances.
Key against them is scoring early to open the game up, then they're there for the taking. No surprise at all that they're better away from home than at home with the way they play.

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread 0-0FT
i think claret gets it pretty much spot on.

cresswell also got into v good positions in the first half(we had 1 man spare on the left hand side on 4-5 occasions) but the midfield showed no urgency ability to move the ball forward. apart from song, we simply looked too slow in midfield. we simply were not on the front foot quick enough. the choices (shots and crosses)made by the team in the final third were not of the quality that has been displayed in the last few games.

as many have said, we have all got used to losing games like stoke and villa so to get 2 points should be viewed as a positive. we have had 1 defeat in something like 8 games so confidence will remain high and the international break has come at just the right time.

8 games until the end of 2014, another 12-15 points will see us in the top 6.

To be fair to Jenkinson, I thought their left back was outstanding and obviously is a great athlete..

Also he hasnt got a winger infront of him or anyone to overlap, so has to do everything himself. He still got some decent crosses it, but yes at times it was frustrating..

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread 0-0FT
Didnt think we played that bad yesterday, although thought our midfield three looked lost in 2nd half, villa set up for a point and defended well at times while wasting the time at every other fucking opportunity, should have really hurt them with amount of set pieces we had though.

Also how them two clowns Cole/Nolan came on before Carroll/Amilfatano was a just a joke, but then it seems allardyce is desperate for his captain to nick that goal that'll get him back into starting line up.

Agreed. One of those days in terms of finding the back of the net, but overall a massive improvement on the time last term and a continuation of our good form this season.

Kouyate and Noble were a little of form and Song was not close to his previous form. Apart from that it was just one of those days that we would probably have lost in previous season.

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread 0-0FT
People are over analysing things, he wasn't good enough, we didn't do this right, Carroll on too late, etc....IMO we played well for the majority but it was one of those days where the ball just wouldn't go in.Villa defended extremely well and deserve credit for that.

Look at how many chances we created compared to most games games last season, we had 3 or 4 in the last couple of minutes alone, and has anyone noticed that we now actually pass the ball to each other rather than to the other side? Maybe we didn't get what we wanted from the game but that performance was still light years ahead of the vast majority of last seasons performances..

Respect the point. A 0-0 against Spuds would be looking ok now.

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread 0-0FT
I thought Song, Kouyate and Noble was way to defensive today and they got in each others way, we just did not get enough bodies forward until late on. Song though is just pure class. Jenkinson was terrible.

I did not understand why Carroll only got 3 or 4 minutes either he was fit to come on for the last 20 when Cole came or or he should not have been on the bench. After watching MOTD Song was pulled down and it was a pen and the Cole one were their defendier got injured was just a terrible decision.

I thought the ref was shocking today, some of his decisions were just bizarre and their centre back was down for nearly 5 minutes yet we only got 4 minutes of extra time, the least you expect from a ref is to be able to get the extra time somewhere near right.

But by close of this weeks fixtures we'll be at least 5th in the league, if anyone would have said we'd be here after 10 games considering we have played both Manchesters, spurs and Liverpool we'd have all bitten their hands off.

After watching villa against QPR, on the face of it, should have won this. Deffo two points dropped. They played better than at QPR tbf, but even so, poor result.
Kouyate and noble were awful today.
Downing and song class again

Agree with many other comments - we were sloppy but the better team. Unlike recent games I didn't enjoy it much - pretty unexciting until the last moments.

Villa pulled off their gameplan perfectly - credit to them, they're a good battling team.

I'm trying to let it sink in without over reacting. But the more hours that pass the more angry I get that we tried to unlock a very stubborn and efficient premier league defence by bringing on Cole and nolan. Big Andy was as there watching for fucks sake
